Castle Wars are Growing in Popularity

The more graphic elements of medieval history have always fascinated modern man, and this has come to full flower on the internet too, in the form of Historic Castle Wars. It is easy to imagine why.

The very notion brings to mind towering parapets, armouries full of weapons, brave warriors protected just by body armour and carrying swords, princesses that need rescuing, crocodiles in the moats and the fire and brimstone of the invading army.

The first really popular castle war game was Castle Wars. This was more of a card game with a difference than a genuine castle war game. Then came Crush the Castle and changed it all.

The application of animation to video games made innovation possible. Today there are many caste war games, inspired by films such as the Harry Potter movies and others. The crossover from film to video game is not very considerable, with the main difference being that you can't get involved in a film yourself.

In castle war games, however, you are part of the scenery, so to speak, and you can act out historical dramas in your head right in front of your PC. There are many castle games, and some have even fallen by the wayside.

There are specialised websites featuring choice castle games. These sites make sure the best and latest games are features, from Crush the Castle up to ones released as recently as today.
